Neti container for rinsing the nasal cavity

Rinsing the nose, nasal throat and sinuses or INNS is a well-known technique in the world and its use is recommended by doctors for various conditions of the upper respiratory tract:

* Helps relieve problems with sinusitis, tonsillitis, headaches, eye, ear and throat diseases. It also alleviates problems with hay fever, asthma or bronchitis.

* In determining the prevalence of the use of the INNS technique among 286 physicians, they found that 91% of them recommend it for the diagnosis of chronic rhinosinusitis.

* In 9% it is recommended for asthma caused by upper respiratory tract infections;

* in 67% in the case of acute bacterial rhinosinusitis,

* in 11% in nasal polyposis,

* in 66% of seasonal acute rhinitis (hay fever),

* in 59% with upper respiratory tract infections.

* INNS has been used in the West for decades as a postoperative care for people who have undergone endoscopic sinus surgery.  

This simple technique removes excess mucus and other impurities and cleans the nose, nasal passages and sinus cavities very effectively. It helps to eliminate the consequences of eye fatigue due to long-term work at the computer, and by regularly performing the neti technique, we maintain a healthy respiratory system.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TECHNIQUE:

In the method of rinsing the nose, we need a special container called a Neti container. Fill the container with warm water first. Add half a teaspoon of salt to this water (if you add too much or too little salt, the mucous membrane will burn) and mix well to dissolve the salt. We stand in front of the sink, tilt the whole body forward a bit, if you are skilled enough you can also squat and line a container into which water will flow. Tilt your head slightly to the side and forward. We start first on the right side and set the nozzle of the container in the nostril, which is raised (in this case the left). The spout should completely seal the nostril so that water does not flow past.

If necessary, correct the position of the head, as the head should not be tilted too far back so that water does not run down our throats.   During the procedure, be sure to breathe through your mouth. Finally, wait for the water to drain from the nostril, blow to empty the nose, and then repeat the process on the left side.
