Clinitest features of the rapid COVID-19 antigen test for self-testing

Despite the long-awaited end of the epidemic, some limitations remain. Testing is a very common limitation, as a negative result allows us to access many different services and activities that we would not otherwise be able to perform.

As you already know, Covid 19 is a disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The symptoms that are most common with Covid - 19 infection are quite similar to some of the symptoms of other respiratory illnesses. The most common are fever, fatigue, and a dry cough. Often the infection is accompanied by loss of taste or smell. The disease is transmitted among people by droplets, by droplets that are excreted from the mouth or nose, during breathing or coughing. The transmission then most often follows through contaminated hands to the mouth.

With the Clinitest rapid test, which is an immunochromatographic rapid test, you will see in fifteen minutes whether you have accidentally become infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Because the tests are suitable for self-testing, you do not need special equipment or specialized personnel to take them. A nasal swab can be taken by anyone over the age of 12, anywhere, anytime. Testing can be performed in the comfort of the home environment, without unnecessary queues. The information you gain from this rapid test, designed for self-testing, can significantly help reduce the risk of exposure to families, schools, and the wider community.

The Clinitest rapid COVID-19 antigen test has 100% specificity and as much as 97.25% sensitivity. The overall accuracy of this test is 98, 73%. It is a lateral flow test for the qualitative detection of a nucleocapsid protein antigen from SARS-CoV-2, directly from the anterior nasal swab. The antigen can generally be detected in upper respiratory tract samples in the acute phase of infection. Rapid diagnosis of coronavirus infection and subsequent care and treatment by physicians will help control the spread of the virus more effectively. The test can help to quickly diagnose a new virus infection and is suitable for examining symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals. The COVID-19 self-test antigen test detects a portion of the virus that is known to be less likely to change over time, a nucleocapsid protein that is a small piece of SARS-CoV-2. The observed variants mainly affect the second part of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the pointed protein.

Performing a self-test with the Clinitest rapid COVID-19 antigen test

You can run the test on your own if you are over 12 years old. For younger people, the test should be taken by an adult. We also recommend assisting with the test for people over the age of 70.

Clean or disinfect your hands thoroughly before testing. The test should be performed at room temperature. Also follow the pictorial instructions that came with the test.

Open the test strip and carefully insert the sterile swab into the nostril 2 to 4 cm deep. Twist it five times inside the nostril and then repeat the procedure in the other nostril.

After taking the swab to mix the tube six times, press it against the bottom and wall of the tube and let it stand for one minute. After this time, press the bottom and wall of the tube a few more times.

Carefully remove the swab from the tube and discard it safely. Place a dropper cap on the test tube.

Place the board on a table or other perfectly flat surface and mark it. Add 4 drops, or 100 µL of sample, to the sample well. Wait 15 minutes for the result to be read.

  • If the test detects an appropriate coronavirus protein, a line will appear in the area of the test line (T) indicating a positive test result.
  • The absence of a test line (T) indicates a negative test result.
  • If the test was performed correctly, a line will always appear in the control line area (C).
