What is Canephron BNO and what is it used for?

Canephron BNO is a traditional herbal medicine for the treatment of urinary tract infections, intended for:

  • supportive care and supplementation of certain measures in case of mild problems (such as frequent urination, burning urination and increased urgency to urinate) caused by inflammatory diseases of the efferent urinary tract;
  • urinary lavage due to increased fluid intake, which may prevent the accumulation of renal sand.

Canephron BNO is a traditional herbal medicine for use in these indications, based solely on long-term experience.

How to take Canephron BNO?

Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: take 1 coated tablet 3 times a day.

Pediatric population:
Canephron BNO should not be used in children under 12 years of age.

How to use coated tablets

The patient should take one dose of Canephron BNO 3 times a day (morning, mid-day, evening).

The coated tablet should be swallowed whole (not chewed) with a sufficient amount of liquid, e.g. with a glass of water.

This will ensure adequate urinary lavage, which is important in the treatment of urinary tract infections.

Duration of taking Canephron BNO

Acute urinary tract infections: 10 days of taking 3X daily 1 tablet + 2 liters of fluid per day
Recurrent urinary tract infections: concomitantly with an antibiotic (prescribed by a doctor) and then for up to 12 weeks 3 times a day 1 tablet + 2 liters of fluid per day. Studies have shown up to 75% fewer recurrent infections.

If the signs of your illness do not improve in 3-4 days, or even worsen, you should consult a doctor. In case of self-medication, the drug should not be used for more than 2 weeks.

Pregnancy and lactation: Canephron BNO can also be used during pregnancy if needed. Canephron BNO should not be used during breast-feeding.

What does Canephron BNO contain?

The active substances in one coated tablet are the following eligible medicinal plants:
Centaurium erythraea Rafn., Herba - herbs tavžentrože 36.0 mg
Levisticum officinale Koch, radix - lu & treron root 36.0 mg
Rosmarinus officinalis L., folium - common rosemary leaf 36.0 mg

Subsidiary substances: Tablet core (lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate [vegetable], corn starch, povidone K 25, colloidal anhydrous silica), Coating (calcium carbonate, virgin castor oil, iron (III) oxide (E172), dextrin corn starch), glucose syrup, montanglycol wax, povidone K 30,
sucrose, elac (wax-free), talc, riboflavin (E101), titanium dioxide (E171).

Interaction with other medicinal products: There are no known interactions between Canephron BNO and other medicines.

Special warnings and precautions:
In case of prolonged fever, lower abdominal pain, cramps, blood in the urine, urinary incontinence and acute urinary retention, the patient should consult a doctor immediately.
Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or
sucrose-isomaltase insufficiency, galactose intolerance or lactase deficiency, Canephron BNO should not be taken.

Note for diabetics:
Each coated tablet contains, on average, 0.3 g of available carbohydrates.

Contraindications:
•Hypersensitivity to the active substances, to other plants of the family Apiaceae, to anethole, excipients.
•Peptic ulcer.
•In case of edema due to impaired heart or kidney function
•If your doctor prescribes a reduction in fluid intake

Side effects: Digestive disorders such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (& only; 100 to < 10), allergic reactions (frequency not known).
